Strong storm causes structural damage across West Virginia

Clarksburg, West Virginia (WBOY) — Strong winds have caused damage and power outages throughout West Virginia, with north central West Virginia being no exception.

In Lewis County, a 911 official confirmed that a wall of the old Weston Town Hubs building on 1st Street and Main Avenue had fallen, and that it was most likely caused by the storm.

There were no injuries, and the Weston Volunteer Fire Department, Weston Police Department, Weston Street Department, and the West Virginia Division of Highways all responded.

The fire department stated that a few cars were damaged by bricks when the wall collapsed, and that a building inspector would arrive on Monday to inspect the adjacent building to ensure that no further damage had occurred.

A 12 News reporter in Clarksburg noticed that a billboard had partially broken due to strong winds, with the right corner appearing to touch a roof below it.

Another 12 News reporter in Fairmont photographed a portion of a roof that had been blown off a building and appeared to have landed on a vehicle.

A Marion County 911 official confirmed that the roof was part of an apartment complex and that people were inside when it was blown off, but that no one was injured. The Fairmont Fire Department responded.
