Nonetheless, Cartia Mallan’s latest Instagram post elicited a hilarious response from fans, who could not help but notice an optical illusion in her outfit.
The Australian content creator, who currently resides in London and has nearly 500,000 followers, recently shared a photo of herself trying on a white and red ombre gown for a London Fashion Week fitting.
The Di Petsa maxi dress appears to be unreleased, and it may make its runway debut at the brand’s upcoming show.
Other similar Di Petsa dresses sell for more than $6,393.05.
However, despite the expensive price tag and high fashion label, commenters quickly pointed out that the dress’s color placement closely resembled a period stain.
Mallan, 26, appeared unaware of this fact, posting on social media that she thought it was “gorgeous” and made her “feel like a mermaid princess.”
One fan immediately commented that it looked like a “period nightmare,” while another compared it to “when I have a leak.”
The quips kept coming.
“Free bleed, but make it fashion,” someone else said.
Another comment was, “Looks like your period has spread,” followed by, “Girl, do you need a tampon?”
“It is giving… period,” another person said.
After seeing the comments, Mallan joined in on the fun, responding to the tampon remark with the hashtag #freetheperiod and laughing off another fan’s comment with, “HAHAHAHHA, why is this so funny to me?” – as if she had not noticed the illusion until now.
It is unclear whether the period design was intentional.
Nonetheless, some people assumed it was and complimented the brand on the message it was sending.
“I am loving the Goddess period vibes. “It is art,” one person wrote.
Another stated that it demonstrated “the beauty of being a woman”.
“Its giving periods are normal and fantastic! “So lovely,” remarked a third.
Another viewed it as a “tasteful yet shocking statement” about the female body, rather than “whatever Kanye and Bianca did…”
Meanwhile, others were unconcerned about the optical illusion and simply complimented the star on its “ethereal” appearance.
