When a citizen of the United States begins receiving their monthly Social Security check, they will know when the money will be available. This is easy to see by looking at the payment calendar, which tends to repeat itself month after month.
However, each Social Security payment day is designated for a different group, and the eligibility requirements for each group cannot be changed.
This means that we cannot change when we receive our monthly payment at any time, so it is a good idea to check the payment calendar and keep it in mind when planning our regular expenses.
How to get the next Social Security payment in February?
The new Social Security check will be sent out on February 12, 2025. On this day, only Group 2 retirees can receive this payment. If your birthday falls between the first and tenth of any month, the first requirement is already met.
However, one additional requirement must be met: the year of retirement. May 1997 marks a before and after in determining Social Security groups. As a result, those who retired before that year are grouped together, while those who retired after that year are divided into three groups.
To clarify, the two mandatory requirements for collecting the payment on February 12, 2025 are:
- Be born between the 1st and 10th day of any month.
- Have been receiving a Social Security benefit since after May 1997.
It makes no difference what kind of benefit we receive or how much we get. It makes no difference whether our check is the maximum or average payment; as long as we are in group 2, we will receive the check on February 12th.
Finally, it is important to note that without the fastest collection method, the Social Security payment will not be received on February 12th. If we do not activate Direct Deposit, the payment will be delivered a few days later, but it will still arrive.
