Following catastrophic flooding in West Virginia, one person died and several more were reported missing

CHARLESTON, WV – State officials confirmed that one person died and that several others are still missing as a result of severe flooding in West Virginia.

Governor Patrick Morrisey announced that one fatality had been confirmed, but the victim’s identity and the location of the incident were not disclosed.

Morrisey reports that emergency crews conducted multiple evacuations in the state’s southern region, including 38 swift water rescues.

Officials also reported significant damage to roads and structures as floodwaters moved through the area.

Authorities are continuing their search and rescue efforts while assessing the damage.
