While daily trout stockings are not advertised in advance, the WVDNR provides a list of recently supplied waters at WVdnr.gov/fish-stockings. Anglers can also learn what waters have been stocked by calling the stocking hotline at 304-558-3399.
In the event of inclement weather or missing stockings, hatchery workers will make up the lost stockings by the end of the month (weather allowing) by conducting additional stocking runs or adding extra fish to future stockings. Anglers can find further information about trout stocking locations on pages 6-7 of the 2025 Fishing Regulations Summary, which is accessible for download at WVdnr.gov/fishing-regulations.
All fishermen 15 and older must have a West Virginia fishing license and a valid form of identification when fishing in the state. Trout stamps are required for individuals who fish for trout. Licenses and stamps can be obtained online at WVfish.com.
