Starting on January 22, 2025, thousands of people in the U.S. receiving Social Security Disability will get a new check to help cover their everyday expenses. However, not all Americans who receive a check will be able to cash it on this day. Each group of beneficiaries picks up their checks on different days.
The year you retire and your birthday decide when you will receive your Social Security Disability payments. If we don’t have a Supplemental Security Income (SSI) check, we will only receive the benefit payment once a month. If we have this extra check, we will receive another payment on the 31st of the month, and that payment will be extra.
How to get the January 22nd Disability payment?
In the event that we want to get the January 22nd Social Security Disability payment we will have to take two things into account. On the one hand, the day of the beneficiary’s birthday. On the other hand, the year of retirement.
Thus, these are the mandatory requirements to get this payment:
- To have a benefit since after May 1997.
- Have a birthday between the 21st and 31st of any month.
Citizens in these groups can receive the payment right away if they have set up Direct Deposit. The Disability payment might take up to 3 days to show up. It is important to note that not all beneficiaries receive a payment of $1,800. Every citizen has a unique check.
Can I get this check without having a disability?
The Social Security payment on January 22nd is not just for people receiving Disability benefits. The payment is given to all citizens who meet the two set requirements. It doesn’t matter what type of retirement you have to get a check, and it doesn’t matter how much.
If your payment is for retirement because of your age, you will receive the check smoothly. You can also receive it if you applied for retirement at age 67 or 70. This data does not change the day you receive your check each month.
