LEWISBURG – On Thursday, May 1, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., concerned citizens will rally in support of workers across America and the world. The rally will take place in Lewisburg’s Greenspace, which is near to City Hall.
International Workers Day, observed on May 1, recalls the battle of Chicago workers in 1886 for an 8-hour workweek.
Rally organizers stated, “We are rallying because our lives, families, public schools, and healthcare are worth fighting for.” We are banding together to maintain and defend Medicaid, Social Security, and Medicare, as well as to call for an end to the billionaire takeover of our country.
We believe that our public schools need full financing, as do farmers and farms. We advocate for an end to attacks on immigrants and other minority groups.”
