Many Big-Name Brands Closing Locations In New York
Big Lots, Forever 21, Denny’s, Dollar Tree, Esprit, Joann Fabric, Party City, Macy’s, Walgreens, TD Bank, Red Robin, and Game Stop have all recently announced store closures or bankruptcy filings.
JOANN Closing All Locations In New York State
Earlier this year, Jo-Anne Fabrics, which recently changed its name to JOANN, announced plans to close all locations, including approximately 30 in New York. Jo-Anne Fabrics opened its first location over 80 years ago.

The closing dates have not been confirmed, but most stores are expected to remain open until May. However, customer gift cards were only valid until February 28.
JOANN Scams
Going-out-of-business sales are currently taking place at JOANN locations across the Empire State. However, scammers are attempting to take advantage of discount shoppers.
According to Good Housekeeping, a number of “fake websites pretending to be JOANN” have appeared since the closing sale announcement.

Instead of the real website, joann.com, fake websites that look real (such as Joann-us.com) provide excellent sales.
However, the website is a scam. Not only will you not receive your product, but you will also be duped out of money.
Company Aware Of Scam
JOANN is aware of the scam and is warning customers.
“Please shop in-store only. Joann.com allows you to browse our catalog and find your nearest store, but there is no online shopping available during our liquidation,” JOANN wrote on social media. “Beware of fraudulent websites!”
