Charleston, WV (WOAY)—The Secretary of State’s office reported over 1,440 new registered businesses statewide in March.
Doddridge, Clay, Calhoun, Monroe, and Wayne were the top five counties for new business growth this month.
Kanawha, Monongalia, Berkeley, Raleigh, and Jefferson counties led the state in total business registrations in March.
According to the secretary of state’s business and licensing division, 13,680 new businesses were registered in West Virginia between April 1st, 2024 and March 31st, 2025.
Raleigh County has the highest growth rate of any of the 55 counties over the past year, at 19.34%.
Of the 1,440 new business registrations, over 170 were eligible for the Secretary of State’s office fee waiver program.
The Boots to Business and Young Entrepreneur programs waive the initial registration fee as well as annual reporting fees for up to four years.
