WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, West Virginia – Are you interested in the Greenbrier’s rich history?
The Greenbrier is hosting its first Wintertime History Weekend. Attendees will be able to participate in Q&A sessions, seminars, special dinners, and cooking classes, where they will learn how to prepare some of the iconic meals served over the years at the Greenbrier.
Dr. Robert Conte is the Greenbrier’s Emeritus Historian. He stated that they will delve into the histories of golf, art, dining, and decorations at the Greenbrier.
“All this stuff had accumulated. It was literally hidden in an attic back in 1978, and that’s how I learned the history of the Greenbrier, going through this random, what appeared to be random material, trying to put it in some kind of order,” said Dr. Conte, referring to his early days of researching the Greenbrier’s history.
“The Greenbrier has something no one else does: history. Over the course of more than 250 years, it served as an Army hospital and a secret bunker. Cam Huffman, the Greenbrier’s director of Public Relations, added, “The Greenbrier’s story over the years has been incredible.”
Dr. Conte and his wife met while working at the Greenbrier, which makes the resort and hotel even more special to them.
These events are open to the public.
