The moment in an American’s life when their Social Security payment begins to arrive in their bank account is undeniably significant.

After all, the payment of this benefit represents a before and after in every household in the United States, as the citizens who receive it stop working and begin their retirement years.

These checks arrive on different days of the month, and on April 9th, a specific group of Americans will be able to take advantage of this monthly benefit.

Retirement checks have an advantage over wages because, at the end of the day, we know when the money will be available.

How do I get today’s Social Security payment?

To get today’s Social Security check, we’ll need to consider two things. If we meet two mandatory requirements, the Administration will send us the check; however, if we use the faster collection method, the payments may or may not arrive today.

To be included in the group that receives the payment today, you must meet two requirements:

  • Having applied for retirement benefits in the month of May 1997 or any subsequent month.
  • Having a birthday between the 1st and 10th day of any month of the year.

To this, we must add the activation of Direct Deposit, which is the most efficient method of collecting these benefits. If we have access to this collection method, the check will always arrive when the administration sends it. If we do not activate this method, the funds will appear a few days later.

Remaining Social Security payments in April

Before the end of April, the Social Security Administration will send additional payments to US citizens with accepted benefits. Given the total of four payments, we can conclude that half of the April payments have yet to arrive.

So, the next payment dates in April will be:

  • April 16th. Social Security retirement payments for group 3 beneficiaries.
  • April 23rd. Retirement checks for Social Security group 4.

Remember that for these two groups, we must meet a common requirement: the payment must be dated after May 1997. On the other hand, each payday has a distinct requirement.

For group 3, your birthday should fall between the 11th and 20th of the month. For group 4, your birthday must fall between the 21st and 31st of any month.
