On April 9, 2025, the Social Security Administration will send additional checks to US citizens who are awaiting their monthly benefits. However, not all US citizens who receive regular checks will be able to collect their payments on April 9th.
To receive payment on this specific day, you must meet a few requirements. These requirements qualify a retiree for Social Security Group 2, which receives its benefits on the second Wednesday of each month. So, if you have an accepted benefit, you should check to see if you will be able to receive the new check.
Thousands of these beneficiaries will be able to receive the benefit within the next 24 hours. If you are a member of the above-mentioned group, you may be eligible for one of these payments; however, the remaining retirees will be able to receive their benefits in the coming weeks, depending on the group to which they belong.
What we should always remember is that Social Security will pay us our checks every month, regardless of the day.
Who doesn’t get Social Security on April 9th?
The payment of the Social Security check on April 9th is only for retirees in group 2, so the remaining groups will not receive payment on this day. However, group 1 has previously received payment, so if we belong to this other group, we will already have the funds available.
Thus, the following retirees do not receive this payment:
- Group 1 retirees. Those beneficiaries with benefits since before May 1997.
- Group 2 retirees. Beneficiaries with checks after May 1997 and birthdays between the 11th and the 20th of any month.
- Group 3 retirees. Citizens with a check from after May 1997 and a birthday between the 21st and 31st of any month.
Therefore, we can conclude that the retirees who receive this payment are those in group 2, those who meet two mandatory requirements:
- Have a benefit check from after May 1997.
- Have your birthday between the 1st and 10th day of any month.
The amount we will receive this month is directly proportional to our work history; however, it is certain that it will be the same as in previous months of 2025.
If this is your first time receiving a retirement benefit, the check you receive from Social Security will be the same as the one you receive throughout the year.
Similarly, to have the money available on the same day, April 9, 2025, we must have Direct Deposit enabled, which is the quickest collection method of all.
If we do not enable this collection method, we will be unable to collect on the same day it is sent and will have to wait a few days until it becomes available.
