MORGAN COUNTY – In Berkeley Springs, Governor Patrick Morrisey signed three bills that he claims protect West Virginians’ Second Amendment rights.

The bills were signed on Friday at Cacapon Resort State Park in Morgan County, in front of many of the legislators who sponsored them. The legislation in question concerns gun rights and firearm companies.

Two of the bills started in the House of Delegates. One bill ensures that firearm manufacturers are not held liable when their products are misused. Another piece of legislation prohibits banks from discriminating against firearms manufacturers.

“West Virginians have always recognized that our freedoms are bestowed upon us by God, not the government. It is our responsibility as elected officials to protect those liberties at any cost.

We are free in West Virginia and strive to be freer every day. By God, I intend to keep it that way. “In recent years, many on the far left have attempted to take away our Second Amendment rights to bear arms,” Governor Morrisey stated.

Morrisey also signed a Senate bill that prohibits the government from suspending gun rights during an emergency or disaster. The bill passed unanimously in the upper chamber and received only one “no” vote in the House.
