On Wednesday, the Thomasville Road store in Tallahassee celebrated its grand opening, a clear indication of the company’s continued expansion throughout Florida.

It’s good news for those in the Florida Panhandle because more Wawa locations are set to open in the coming years.

This store, located at 3534 Thomasville Road, is Wawa’s third in Tallahassee and the 300th in all of Florida.

With over 1,100 locations in multiple states, Wawa continues to gain recognition and loyalty for providing more than just fuel.

It’s a popular stop for both tourists and locals, offering freshly prepared sandwiches, salads, snacks, and customizable coffee.

The latest Tallahassee opening coincides with the closure of two iconic stores in the state.

The Pennsylvania-based chain will close two locations in its largest city, dealing a significant blow to convenience stores in Northeast Philadelphia.

The 6506 Frankford Ave. store will close on April 22, and the 6919 Castor Ave. branch will close on April 24.

A day before each closure, both locations will offer customers free coffee.

BUILDING UP

Wawa shows no sign of slowing down.

Instead, the chain is moving forward with ambitious expansion plans, particularly in the Southeast.

Capital Circle Northwest opened its first store in November.

Then, earlier this year, Wawa opened another location in Tallahassee on North Blair Stone Road.

Around the same time, Wawa opened its first location in Georgia, bringing its brand to the Bainbridge community.

FUTURE PLANS

Now that the Thomasville Road location has officially opened, Wawa is setting even higher goals.

The company has announced plans to open 20 additional stores throughout Florida in the coming years.

This includes up to six additional locations in Tallahassee over the next five to eight years.

Wawa’s continued investment in Florida reflects strong consumer demand and a strategy to establish a presence in rapidly expanding markets.

For the time being, Tallahassee residents can enjoy the latest addition to their neighborhood, and more Wawa locations will not be far behind.
