New York is seeing the spread of a virus that "does not belong in the twenty-first century."

Health experts are alerting New Yorkers about an old pathogen that is resurfacing across the Empire State.

Governor Hochul is pushing residents to obtain their measles-mumps-rubella immunizations in light of new measles outbreaks in the Empire State.

Measles Spreading Again In New York State

In response to new measles outbreaks in New York State, Governor Hochul established a new web site this week to help people get access to vaccines and public health information.

“Measles doesn’t belong in the 21st century, and it certainly doesn’t belong in the State of New York,” Hochul told the audience. “As measles outbreaks occur at home and around the globe, it’s critical that New Yorkers take the necessary steps to get vaccinated, get educated and stave off the spread of this preventable disease — the safety of our communities depends on it.”

According to Hochul’s office, at least four instances of measles have recently been verified in New York State.

“None of the cases this year are related to each other or connected to the outbreaks in Texas and New Mexico,” Hochul’s Office told the Hudson Valley Post.
