Fayetteville, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A mountain birthday celebration turned chaotic Wednesday night when an out-of-town couple’s camping trip devolved into an all-out brawl involving a popped tire, a flying phone, and an air mattress that never saw it coming.
Fayette County deputies responded to Bachman Road after receiving reports of a single vehicle accident and a domestic dispute. What they discovered was a scene straight from a reality TV show.
According to Hanna Lin Frauen, the trouble began when she asked her boyfriend, Kevin Patrick Stone, to sit with her on a rock. But instead of taking in the scenery, Stone was glued to his Facebook feed. Frauen smacked him after becoming frustrated with his digital distraction.
Things quickly escalated—Stone allegedly held her down, threw her phone into a creek, and attempted to flee. Frauen wasn’t having it, and she reportedly chased him down the road, punching him through the car window.
Stone eventually stopped the car, but instead of taking a deep breath and calming down, he allegedly took a knife to the couple’s air mattress, slashed it, and “popped” a tire to keep Frauen from fleeing. Frauen was convinced Stone had also thrown her car keys into the creek. Deputies later discovered them in his pocket.
By the time police arrived, the couple had been battered—Stone with a busted brow and Frauen with a busted lip. A concerned passerby heard someone yelling for help and honking a car horn and later reported to officers that she found a distressed woman who claimed her companion had wrecked the car, slashed the tires, and thrown her phone into the water.
Deputies investigated the scene, discovering blood on the driver’s door, a deflated tire, and the remnants of the ill-fated air mattress. After determining that both parties were equally involved in the chaos, they arrested Stone and Frauen and charged them with domestic battery.
