West Virginians' response to President Trump's request for a third term

While President Trump claims to be “not joking” about running for a third term, the 22nd Amendment prohibits him from doing so.

Revising the constitution would be a difficult task that is unlikely to be accomplished.

Nonetheless, the president has stated that there are solutions.

Some West Virginians expressed their views on Trump’s potential reelection.

“There are two consecutive terms in place for a reason,” explained Huntington resident Michelle Massie. “And I would probably think that it was not the best idea for him to run for a third term.”

Kory Lester, a Wyoming County resident, sees a third term as a test; if it fails, we will see that it should not have happened.

“But I think we should be able to take a chance on it,” he told me. “Perhaps in three terms, the President will have more time to actually change things. Also, the progress he makes now can be continued rather than the next term coming in and changing everything.”
