Social Security retirement checks for one group of Americans will arrive a week late because of the payment schedule.
A new check from the Social Security Administration of the United States will be sent to people in Retiree Group 1 on April 3, 2025. But the payment will not be sent to Retiree Group 2 that day. They will have to wait a little longer.
This is because the groups of retirees affect when they get their Social Security payments. In this way, the year we retire can affect when we get the money. In the same way, only a certain group of people can get the April 3rd retirement payment.
This payment can be made to people with checks dated before May 1997. If our check is dated after that date, we will have to wait a little longer to get it in our bank account. Because of this system, the Social Security Administration can organize how benefits are given well.
Who will get Social Security later in April?
For retirees in groups 2, 3, and 4, their checks will not arrive until the second, third, and fourth weeks of April. This is when the Social Security Administration will send the checks. In these situations, the payment schedule is usually very clear, so if there are no problems, the payments will get to the retirees as planned.
Of course, getting all of these payments can help our finances, but it is still helpful to know when they will arrive. People who started getting their pension after May 1997 and whose birthday is between the 1st and 10th of any month will be able to get their payment on April 9, 2025. These people are in group 2, and this benefit will help them stick to their monthly budget.
More Social Security payments in April 2025
After that payment day, the Administration will send payments to retirees in groups 3 and 4 in April 2025. On April 16th and 23rd, these groups will get their money. There are certain things that need to be thought about for each group.

Keep in mind that if you do not have Direct Deposit, the payment will come a little later. But do not worry—the benefit will still arrive. In April 2025, the Social Security Administration will send all payments on the days that were set.
