TALCOTT, W.Va. (Hinton News) – Authorities arrested a man in Talcott on March 30, 2025, after a domestic dispute turned violent, involving the use of a handgun. The Summers County Sheriff’s Department issued a statement detailing the incident:
Deputies were dispatched to Lowell Market in the Lowell area of Summers County following reports of a domestic argument that escalated into a firearm being brandished. While en route, deputies learned that the vehicle containing both the victim and the suspect had departed the store.
The vehicle was later spotted at the Talcott Post Office, where the suspect, identified as Chase Keaton, allegedly struck the victim multiple times with a closed fist. A passing motorist who attempted to intervene was threatened by Keaton with a handgun. Keaton then fled on foot but was apprehended after a search of the area at John Henry Park. The firearm used in the incident was recovered, and Keaton faces the following charges:
- Domestic Assault
- Domestic Battery
- Brandishing a Firearm (2 Counts)
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Simultaneously, deputies responded to a separate domestic battery incident in the Hilldale area of Summers County, assisting the West Virginia State Police with their investigation. An arrest was also made in that case.
The Sheriff’s Department praised the dedication of its deputies, many of whom were off duty and with their families when the incidents occurred. With a single message, several deputies quickly mobilized to respond.
