Man Charged with Domestic Violence, Brandishing Weapons Following Incident in Jumping Branch

JUMPING BRANCH, W.Va. (Hinton News) – A criminal complaint states that on March 23, at approximately 8:56 p.m., police received a report of a male being pursued down the road by another male armed with a shotgun and pistol. The first victim reported that he was ascending the steps to the second victim’s residence when the suspect, identified as 64-year-old George Henry Mohr of Jumping Branch, approached him from behind, wielding a shotgun in one hand and a pistol in the other.

According to the complaint, Mohr shouted at both victims to enter the house while aiming the firearms at them. Once inside, Mohr took the second victim into the bedroom, at which point the first victim fled the residence and ran down the road.

A deputy arrived at the scene and encountered Mohr standing in a field, holding a beer bottle. The complaint indicates that Mohr was then handcuffed and placed in the cruiser for further investigation. Mohr claimed that he had returned the guns to his camper.

The deputy subsequently interviewed both victims. The first victim alleged that Mohr had approached them from behind, pointed a gun at them, and ordered them to leave the property.

The second victim recounted that once in the bedroom, she struggled with Mohr over a handgun, which he held to her head while saying, “You’re going to meet Jeremy,” referring to her late husband. The complaint states that Mohr then exited the room, and the second victim reportedly said she would not press charges if he left.

Authorities located the two fully loaded firearms, each with a round in the chamber, inside Mohr’s camper on the same property as the second victim’s residence. Mohr was arrested and charged with two counts each of brandishing a deadly weapon and wanton endangerment involving a firearm, as well as domestic battery and domestic assault.

As of the publication date, Mohr is being held at Southern Regional Jail with a bail set at $13,000.
