Trump Invites Chiefs to White House… After Eagles Win Super Bowl!

Despite the team’s recent Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Donald Trump has invited Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes, and the Kansas City Chiefs to the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl LIV victory.

The Chiefs secured their victory over the San Francisco 49ers on February 2, 2020, at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium. However, the coronavirus pandemic broke out shortly after, preventing Kelce, Mahomes, and their teammates from attending the traditional presidential meet-and-greet.

Now, five years later, and following a response from the Eagles this year, Trump is looking to make up for the missed opportunity that the Chiefs never had due to the pandemic.

In a conversation with OutKick founder Clay Travis aboard Air Force One, the 78-year-old former president discussed his plans for sports fans in the near future.

“I look forward to having the [Philadelphia Eagles],” Trump told Travis during their conversation on Air Force One. “And one other thing, we’re going to have the Kansas City Chiefs after that because they missed their turn because of COVID.”

Trump’s remarks come several months after he witnessed the Chiefs’ crushing defeat by the Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. The Kansas City team entered the game with the goal of winning their second consecutive championship, which would have been unprecedented in NFL history.

Philadelphia got off to a fast start, destroying coach Andy Reid’s defensive strategy. The scoreboard read 40-22, but the game wasn’t as close, with the Eagles dominating the Chiefs from the start.

Regardless of the political connections – Kelce is dating Taylor Swift and supports Kamala Harris – Trump’s invitation to Kelce is a sign that sports should not be mixed with politics. Kelce responded positively to questions about Trump watching Super Bowl LIX.

“That’s awesome. “It’s a great honor,” he stated. “I believe, regardless of who the president is, I am excited because it is the most important game of my life. And with the president present, you know it’s the best country in the world. So that would be really cool.

“Anytime I have the opportunity to be recognized by the President of the United States and to travel with my teammates and a group of men and women with whom I have achieved success, I take it every time, regardless of who is in charge. No matter what’s going on in the world, this is such a fantastic opportunity.”

As of now, there is no confirmed date for the Chiefs’ White House invitation.
