Nine people were sentenced to 79 years in a meth case

A federal investigation into a drug trafficking organization resulted in the sentencing of nine defendants to more than 79 years in prison, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Louisiana announced on March 14.

According to the United States Attorney’s Office, the FBI Central Louisiana Gang Task Force investigated methamphetamine distribution in Avoyelles Parish by conducting surveillance, observing drug transactions, and obtaining court approval to wiretap trafficking phones.

The office stated that between January and September 2023, law enforcement intercepted numerous communications in which the defendants discussed narcotics trafficking and that the organization obtained meth from Houston for distribution throughout central and southern Louisiana.

According to the office, United States District Judge Dee D. Drell imposed the following sentences:

  • Darrell Joseph Sampson Jr., 39, of Marksville – 113 months (nine years, five months) in prison.
  • Christopher Glynn Bradford, 46, of Marksville – 50 months (four years, two months) in prison.
  • Travis Demond Carroll, 34, of Baton Rouge – 180 months (15 years) in prison.
  • Kelly Johnson Jr., 32, of Lake Charles – 90 months (seven years, six months) in prison.
  • Troy Wayne Dominick, 42, of Mansura – 80 months (six years, eight months) in prison.
  • Arthor Francisco, 37, of Moreauville – 160 months (13 years, four months) in prison.
  • Desmond Dewayne Jordan, 46, of Alexandria – 225 months (18 years, nine months) in prison.
  • Joseph Patrick Murray III, 27, of Cottonport – 37 months (three years, one month) in prison.
  • Tremayne Lee Lavalais, 34, of Bunkie – 20 months (one year, eight months) in prison.
