Barron Trump may be spending time in Florida with his father for his birthday next week, which coincides with New York University’s spring break.
Barron celebrates his 19th birthday on Thursday, March 20, which also happens to be the second-to-last day of classes before NYU’s spring break. President Donald Trump is scheduled to spend that week at his Mar-a-Lago estate near Palm Beach, Florida.
According to the Palm Beach Daily News, the president is scheduled to visit Palm Beach from March 14 to March 16, after which he will travel to his New Jersey golf club.
However, he is not scheduled to arrive until after his son’s big day, leading some to speculate that Barron may join his father in Florida or travel to New Jersey for the week after his father arrives.
There are numerous theories about how Barron will celebrate next week, as well as another looming question that many people want answered: where will his mother, First Lady Melania Trump, be.
Barron at Mar-a-Lago in Florida
The leading theory is that Barron will spend some time with his father at Mar-a-Lago, but it is unclear whether he will travel to Florida this week or after the first half of the semester is completed.
The week before spring break is typically filled with midterms, but if Barron doesn’t have any — which is possible given that he is only a freshman — he may use the week to travel and skip some in-person class sessions, if he has any.
According to a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) notice, Trump will visit his Mar-a-Lago estate for the seventh time since his inauguration on Jan. 20 from March 14 to 16. Records show that he prefers to visit the “Winter White House” or “Southern White House” most weekends during the winter.
He also owns Trump National Doral Miami, where he occasionally plays golf. However, speculation persists as to whether the First Son will pay his father a visit for some birthday festivities.
Barron at Bedminster in New Jersey
Barron may instead join his father at his Bedminster golf resort in New Jersey, nicknamed the “Summer White House.”
As of March 13, the FAA had issued a temporary flight restriction for “VIP movement” over Trump’s Bedminster Club from March 21 to 23. It did not specifically mention Trump by name, but it followed the same travel restrictions that the FAA typically imposes for presidential travel.
In other words, Trump is highly likely to visit the estate during that time period, which coincides with Barron’s birthday and spring break.
NYU’s spring break is scheduled to run from Monday, March 24, to Friday, March 28, with the weekends in between providing students with some extra relief — bringing the total length of the break to nine days, from March 22 to March 30.
Trump frequently visits Bedminster in the spring and summer, and Barron and Melania have been known to accompany him and stay at the resort for extended periods of time.
It’s unclear whether Barron will accompany his father during his week off from school, but there is another option.
Barron at Trump Tower in NYC
Barron might prefer the quiet of his suite at Trump Tower, where he lives during the school year while attending classes at NYU, for his birthday this year.
Trump Tower is located in Midtown, a short subway ride (or, in Barron’s case, armored car ride) uptown from NYU’s West Village campus.
Barron is known to play video games at home and relax after classes at the tower, and it’s entirely possible that he would prefer that familiar environment to a week of socializing with his president father — which would eventually be overshadowed by the nature of his father’s job.
But Barron has previously expressed an interest in following in his father’s political footsteps, and he may prefer to spend a week with him, essentially shadowing him as he performs his presidential duties — or golfs at his resorts.
Where will Melania be?
When Barron or his father are mentioned, the question that comes to everyone’s mind is where Melania is. It’s unclear where she’ll be in the coming weeks, but the first lady has been seen much more frequently in recent weeks as she adjusts to her role as FLOTUS, which she has previously held and appears to be welcoming with slightly more open arms this term.
However, her public appearances have remained rare, and she has not been particularly vocal this term. However, she has been seen wearing suits on several occasions as part of a wardrobe change.
She has also attended some events with her husband, but she has remained quietly by his side and has not made an effort to draw attention to herself.
Just last week, she announced Spring Garden Tours at the White House, a free and open tour of the White House’s gardens on April 5 and 6.
It’s unclear where Melania will be on her son’s birthday, whether she’ll spend the day with him or do her own thing. This term, she’s been working on “her own projects,” according to a source, and she spends her time in Washington, D.C., New York (where she has her own private residence), and Mar-a-Lago.
