Trump looks down a reporter after getting smacked in the face with a boom mic: 'She just created a big story'

President Trump was accidentally struck in the face by a boom microphone Friday while fielding questions from reporters at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.

The fuzzy end of the extended microphone, also known as a “dead cat” in the industry, struck the 45th and 47th president in the mouth and slid across a portion of his face as he closed his eyes and leaned back to avoid further contact.

Trump, 78, glared at the reporter and raised both eyebrows in apparent amusement as the microphone was quickly removed.

“She just made television tonight,” the president joked, presumably referring to the clumsy reporter. “She just became a big story tonight.”

Have you seen that?” Trump asked someone off camera, laughing about the incident.

It is not clear which media outlet the boom mic operator works for.

The devices, while intrusive, are useful for recording audio when the president is near the noisy engines of the presidential plane and helicopter.

Following the jab, Trump fielded several more questions before boarding Air Force One.

Minutes before the boom mic incident, the president had a minor stumble while climbing the steps of Marine One on the White House lawn.

Trump was assisting X, the four-year-old son of DOGE CEO Elon Musk, to board the helicopter when his right foot became entangled below the first step.

The president caught himself and quickly walked up the remaining steps.
