CHARLESTON, West Virginia (WDTV) – A bill requiring the display of ‘In God We Trust’ in public schools in West Virginia passed the Senate on Wednesday.

Senate Bill 280, sponsored by Senators Azinger, Taylor, Thorne, Rose, Hart, Bartlett, Deeds, and Martin, would require the national motto, ‘In God We Trust,’ to be displayed in public elementary and secondary schools, as well as higher education institutions.

According to the bill, the poster or framed copy of the national motto must include a representation of the United States flag centered beneath the motto and may not contain any other words, images, or information.

The bill is now headed to the House of Delegates for approval.
