Ozzy Osbourne Sets Paramount+ Doc discusses health issues and the final Black Sabbath performance. I want to'say a proper goodbye'

Ozzy Osbourne is the subject of a new Paramount+ documentary called “No Escape From Now,” which will follow his health issues and his upcoming final show with Black Sabbath.

The feature-length project, which is currently in production and set to premiere on the streamer later this year, will “reveal the devastating setbacks” the 76-year-old Brit has “faced since his fateful fall in 2019,” according to a press release.

“This is Ozzy Osbourne like you’ve never seen before: an honest, warm and deeply personal portrait of one of the greatest rock stars of all-time, detailing how the singer’s world shuddered to a halt six years ago, forcing him to contemplate who he really is, confront his own mortality and question whether or not he can ever perform on stage for one last time,” the documentary’s tagline states. “Addressing his health issues and impact of his Parkinson’s diagnosis, the film showcases the central role music continues to play in Ozzy’s life — also proving his mischievous sense of humor remains resolutely intact despite it all.”

The documentary, directed by BAFTA winner Tania Alexander (“Gogglebox”), began filming in 2022 during the sessions for Osbourne’s 13th album “Patient Number 9” and will continue until what the rocker calls his final performance with Black Sabbath on July 5 in his hometown of Birmingham, England.

“The last six years have been some of the most difficult of my life. “There have been times when I thought my number was up,” Osbourne said in a statement. “However, making music and recording two albums saved me. I’d have gone crazy without music.”

He went on to say, “My fans have supported me for so many years, and I really want to thank them and say goodbye to them.” That’s what the Villa Park show is about.”

The documentary will feature Osbourne’s wife Sharon and their children, as well as Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath), Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses), Robert Trujillo (Metallica), Billy Idol, Maynard James Keenan (Tool), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), guitarist Zakk Wylde, producer Andrew Watt, and friend and musician Billy Morrison.

“This film is an honest account of what has happened to Ozzy during the last few years,” Sharon Osbourne said in an interview. “It demonstrates how difficult things have been for him and the courage he has displayed while dealing with a variety of serious health issues, including Parkinson’s. It’s about his current life situation. We collaborated with a production team we trusted and gave them the freedom to tell the story openly. We hope that story will inspire others who are facing similar challenges as Ozzy.”

“Ozzy Osbourne: No Escape From Now” was created by Echo Velvet in collaboration with the Osbournes and MTV Entertainment Studios. Bruce Gillmer and Amanda Culkowski of MTV Entertainment Studios, Phil Alexander of Echo Velvet, and Sharon Osbourne serve as executive producers.
