A father accused of fatally shooting his baby daughter has been charged with murder, according to Arizona officials.
Adam Joseph Montoya, 27, the 13-month-old’s father, is accused of fatally shooting the baby with an AR-15 rifle in front of her mother, prosecutors said in a Facebook post on February 24.
According to the Navajo County Attorney’s Office’s post, Show Low officers responded to a shooting report on February 11.
Medical personnel transported the baby to Summit Regional Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead, according to officials.
Officers did not say what prompted the shooting.
Montoya was charged with murder, domestic violence, and child abuse, according to officials.
Montoya is being held in Navajo County Jail on a $1 million bond and is set to appear in court on March 6 for his pretrial conference and release hearing, according to prosecutors.
Show Low is about 180 miles northeast of Phoenix.
