One person died after a vehicle collided with a tree in Ohio

OHIO — According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, a 27-year-old man died in a single-vehicle crash late Friday night on Blackbrook Road.

Around 10:40 p.m., deputies responded to the 500 block of Blackbrook Road, where they discovered a red Chevrolet pickup truck with extensive passenger-side damage against a tree.

The driver was unresponsive and trapped inside.

Firefighters from Grand River, Painesville Township, and Painesville worked to free the driver and prepare a landing area for a medical helicopter.

Despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to a preliminary investigation conducted by the Lake County Accident Reconstruction Team, the truck was traveling east on Blackbrook Road when it failed to navigate a turn, went off the road, hit an embankment, and rolled onto its side before striking the tree.

The sheriff’s office stated that the man was wearing a seat belt, but alcohol and speed are suspected factors in the accident. The investigation is ongoing.
