Goodbye to payments for retirees born between 1 and 20: the Social Security confirms the payment to these pensioners

Millions of Social Security beneficiaries in the United States are waiting for their next monthly payment, which is critical in covering essential expenses like housing, food, and medical care.

According to the official Social Security Administration (SSA) schedule, the next round of payments will be made on Wednesday, February 26, to those born between the 21st and 31st of any month.

The Social Security payment schedule is designed to distribute benefits throughout the month based on beneficiaries’ birthdates. With February coming to an end, this will be the month’s final payment, ensuring that eligible recipients receive their funds before March begins.

Furthermore, because March 1 is a weekend, recipients of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) will receive their March payment early on February 28.

A recent 2.5% Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA), applied in January 2025, has slightly increased Social Security payments, helping beneficiaries keep up with inflation. However, if payments do not arrive on time, the SSA advises waiting at least three business days before contacting their offices.

Social Security Payment Schedule for February 2025

The SSA follows this structured distribution:

  • February 3: Beneficiaries who have been receiving payments since before May 1997.
  • February 12: Recipients born between the 1st and 10th of any month.
  • February 19: Recipients born between the 11th and 20th of any month.
  • February 26Recipients born between the 21st and 31st of any month.

Additionally, SSI recipients will receive their March payment on February 28, since March 1 falls on a weekend.

Updated Social Security Payment Amounts for 2025

With the 2025 COLA increase, the average monthly payments are now:

  • Retired individuals: $1,976 per month.
  • Retired couples: $3,089 per month.
  • SSI beneficiaries: $967 per month for individuals, $1,450 for couples.

To ensure timely payment delivery, the SSA strongly advises using direct deposit, as mailed checks can take several days to arrive. In the event of a delay, beneficiaries can check their payment status on the official Social Security Administration website.
