A man was detained and prosecuted following an alleged hit-and-run collision in Summers County

Summers County, West Virginia — A man was arrested and charged following a reported hit-and-run accident in Summers County.

According to a Facebook post by the Summers County Sheriff’s Office, Steven Leach was arrested and charged with DUI with a minor.

At 3:47 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, members of the Summers County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported hit-and-run accident on Greenbrier Drive.

According to the post, the car that left the scene was a green Jeep, and information was gathered and shared on the Summers County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page. The jeep was later discovered in the Hilldale area of Summers County, with Leach identified as the driver.

Summers County Sheriff’s Office investigators determined that Leach was under the influence of alcohol and had a minor in the car at the time of the accident.

According to the Summers County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation is still ongoing and Leach may face additional charges. All parties are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
