Fayette County, West Virginia – High water levels are becoming a major concern throughout the region as heavy rain showers continue to blanket southern West Virginia.
Flooding has triggered a state of emergency in McDowell, Mercer, and Summers counties.
The McDowell County Commission reports that multiple roads throughout the county are impassable and urges residents to avoid them if possible.
McDowell County Schools has opened Mount View High School as an evacuation center for those who need to seek higher ground.
Several roads in Mercer County are also impassable, including the Midway Tunnel in Bluefield.
Summers County 911 reports that John Henry Park still has room for campers in flood-prone areas.
