LEWISBURG, WV – Just as the temperatures appeared to indicate an early start to spring, Punxsutawney Phil’s predictions came true.
Greenbrier County residents are just like any other. They, like us, braced for the massive snowfall. Some people loved it. Some…maybe not so much. Here’s what people on the street said.
“Hello, I work for the school system.” I have a snow day. Tanya Hanway, a Walmart shopper, said, “I am loving it.”
“I am about ready for spring,” said Rainelle resident Brian McGuire.
“I think it’s beautiful, so I don’t mind,” Jasmine Cottrell added.
“We came for a sled, but we had already stocked everything for the spring and summer, so it’s fine. Tanya Hanway, who was with Josh Hanway, said, “We’ll find something to slide on.
The Hanways did not lose everything.
“[Josh] has a four-wheel drive vehicle and enjoys driving it. He is actually looking for a place to make donuts, so you know. “Whatever,” Tanya Hanway replied.
“She said, ‘not in the Walmart parking lot,'” Josh Hanway joined in.
Jasmine Cottrell braved the elements for a job interview to support her family, especially during the colder months. Her walk through Lewisburg could have discouraged someone else from embarking on this adventure, but she refused to be deterred by minor inconveniences.
“Watch out for the drivers because many of them will start sliding. On the way up here, a vehicle came off the side of the road while I was distracted by my phone. It was riding along the sidewalk towards me. “I had to jump over into the grass,” explained Cottrell.
