Hardeeville, South Carolina — A woman was arrested after allegedly assaulting a deputy at the Hardeeville Walmart on Saturday.
Jasper County deputies responded to a report of shoplifting at the Walmart on Nickel Plate Road, according to a JCSO spokesperson.
They made contact with 27-year-old Yira Fonseca. Authorities claimed she then attempted to flee on foot and assaulted a deputy.
Fonseca is accused of shoplifting and assaulting an officer involved in the serving process.
Sheriff Chris Malphrus stated that they will not tolerate attacks on deputies and will pursue “the maximum penalties allowed by law.”
