A gusty front will cause a few falling tree branches and power outages on Wednesday, followed by 48 hours of rain.
WINDS: A cold front will push through Wednesday afternoon, with gusts reaching 36-50 mph. Eastern Fayette, Raleigh, western Greenbrier, and western Pocahontas could expect some fell branches and power outages. The tree damage and power outages will be extensively distributed over the rest of the region.
RAIN: Expect 0.5-1.0 inches of rain from Thursday evening until 4-5 a.m. on Friday. The rain will generate ponding of water in the dips of minor roads, particularly because some storm drains are clogged with snow and the ground will be unable to absorb all of the water. We break into the sun after 10 a.m. on Friday. A cold front will cause a few storms in eastern Ohio and western West Virginia between 6 and 10 p.m. on Friday, with a few of them perhaps making it to Route 19.
Additionally, the Greenbrier River in Alderson has the potential to reach “Action Stage” on Saturday afternoon. This means that water will remain just below Route 3 downstream from Alderson, near Eagle Branch.
