A local interior designer is facing charges for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars from Allegheny County customers.
The district attorney’s office’s most recent filing alleges that she stole $45,000 from her customer.
There appear to be several victims throughout Allegheny County.
“Rather than responding the same day or the next, it was a week later. Two weeks. “Oh, things are on backorder,” Brandon Mahler explained.
Mahler told Channel 11 via Zoom about when he first became skeptical of the interior designer he and his wife hired in 2022.
“Two lamps and a rug showed up, and we kept them. Then nothing else. Then the weeks turned into months,” Mahler explained.
According to police, the designer is Lauren Piasecki, the owner of Black Cherry Designs.
She is facing several charges from multiple victims who claim they paid her to decorate their home, but she never did and never repaid them.
Mahler claims she still owes him over $13,000.
Police allege she stole $160,000 from another couple.
Police report that she sent an email to a client apologizing for failing to fulfill her promises and obligations.
This is not typical, nor do I believe it is acceptable to conduct business in this manner.”
However, according to police, the customer has yet to be paid.
According to police, she spent a large portion of this money on personal expenses such as bars and restaurants, Uber rides, and Amazon purchases.
