McDonald’s launched its new McValue platform on Tuesday, with the goal of attracting budget-conscious customers to its restaurants.
Last year, McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski stated on the company’s third-quarter earnings call that the company’s “value leadership gap has shrunk” and that it has been focusing on improving its savings offerings.
The new McValue menu, available at McDonald’s locations nationwide, includes a variety of meal deals.
It includes McDonald’s $5 meal deal, which the company introduced in June. The offer includes a McDouble burger or McChicken sandwich, four chicken McNuggets, a small order of fries, and a small soft drink.
A new “buy one, add one for $1” promotion is also available on the McValue menu. It applies to popular breakfast, lunch, and dinner options such as breakfast sandwiches, nuggets, and burgers. When customers purchase one full-priced item from the McValue menu, they can add another item for only $1.
In addition, the new McValue platform will provide exclusive offers via its mobile app, as well as local food and drink deals. For example, every Friday this year, customers receive a free medium fries order with a $1 purchase. According to the company, all new app users receive a free McCrispy TM chicken sandwich.
McDonald’s has partnered with professional wrestler and actor John Cena to launch the new platform, describing him as “the perfect McValue ambassador.”
In a statement released on Tuesday, Cena described the new menu as “an absolute game changer.”
Beyond fast food
McDonald’s is launching additional deals to commemorate the McValue menu’s launch, totaling more than $3 million in promotions.
Customers can get a free month of YouTube TV, 20 minutes of free wifi on American Airlines flights, a free Tinder Gold Premium Access subscription, and other perks.
According to the company, customers must digitally interact with McValue ads in order to receive these benefits.
