In a heartbreaking incident early Sunday morning, a man was killed after exiting his vehicle following a two-car crash on U.S. 23 in Pickaway County. The accident occurred shortly after 5:15 a.m. near the Island Road intersection, as deputies from the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
According to reports
1988 Chevrolet truck towing a trailer was traveling northbound when it was rear-ended by a 2022 Nissan driven by 52-year-old Barry Arthur of Chillicothe. After the collision, Arthur exited his vehicle while still in the roadway and was struck by a 2011 Ford Escape also heading north on U.S. 23.
Emergency personnel pronounced Arthur dead at the scene at 5:29 a.m. The driver of the truck was taken to a local hospital, while a passenger was transported to a hospital in Grove City. The driver of the Ford Escape received treatment at the scene and was released.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic event, urging drivers to exercise caution and remain vigilant on the roads.
