Grant program provides improvements to Pickaway County Parks

Martha Hitler Park has an exciting new addition for park goers, a new restroom! Thanks to the help from a Pickaway County Park District grant, the Park and Trail Improvement Grant, Washington Township replaced their Porta John with a new, handicap accessible, restroom. Though this project may not invoke off the wall excitement from most, this project was highly anticipated by both Park District Staff, Trustees because of the valuable impact it brings by helping visitors enjoy the park. Both entities hope that this addition will improve the overall experience of the park and encourage users to visit this beautiful and quaint park for even more picnics, hikes and games of disc golf! Parks all around Pickaway County are being improved with the help of the Park District’s Park and Trail Improvement Grant, just like Washington Township. To date, the District has given away over $415,000 during the 8 years that the grant program has been running and we intend to keep going. The mission of this grant program is to improve parks local to the residents of Pickaway County by providing and improving local recreation opportunities. May of us rely on our local neighborhood parks as places to take our families to get fresh air and exercise, to take our dogs to walk and run, to have gatherings and picnics as well as to have fun. This grant program assures that these local parks and communities keep meeting those needs.
