What happens at the Welcome Center?
Many visitors come to The Welcome Center and ask, “What do you do here?” To be honest, that is a complicated question. The Welcome Center houses the offices of the Pickaway County Visitors Bureau and Pickaway County Chamber of Commerce. Within the Welcome Center, the Visitors Bureau has a selection of local maps and information for those new to the area, or those traveling. We also have a selection of locally made items available for sale, including Circleville Pumpkin Show merchandise. And if we don’t have something you’re looking for, one of our staff members can probably help direct you to where to go in Pickaway County to find it.
While the office itself has become somewhat of an information hub for the community, we also are working on other projects that help promote the county and bring visitors to the area. Through having the Chamber of Commerce in our building, we are able to work together more frequently and connect visitors and residents with local businesses and services.
Our overall mission is to promote travel and tourism while also showcasing our unique history and attractions while connecting with visitors and our community. One of the biggest ways we reach our audiences is through social media or our website calendar of events. We are always trying to keep our calendar of events updated on www.pickaway.com so that visitors and residents can see what events are happening. It is completely free to have your event on the calendar, and as long as it fits our mission, we would love to have even more community contributions.
As an organization, PCVB is looking forward to what is to come in 2021. We hope to be able to pick back up on our summer event series when it is safe to do so. And until then, we will continue doing what we can to help promote this wonderful community that we live in.
