First sitting president to visit Pickaway County in 100 years

On Saturday, October 24 – President Trump visited Circleville, Ohio. The visit from POTUS has created a moment that will be viewed as historical, not only for the city of Circleville but for the areas of Pickaway County the president drove through. However, President Trump was not the first sitting president to visit our area.
Not since the 1920s has a sitting president visited Pickaway County, and there are many who don’t realize that a sitting president has visited once before. President Warren G. Harding considered Pickaway County to be a place of refuge, even to the point that he had a cabin that stayed in – which is best known now as the Harding Cabin at Deer Creek. The cabin was a popular place for Harding and his inner circle of friends to visit.
From our research a sitting president had not been to Pickaway County in about a hundred years, making the rally that took place this past weekend a moment that will stand out in local history for many years to come.
Over the years there have been plenty of political figures who have visited Pickaway County, including some that were candidates for Vice President, but from what we were able to discern this is the first time in about 100 years.
