What can Pickaway County Park District do for you?

PICKAWAY COUNTY, OHIO (Pickaway Cultivator) – Provide outstanding outdoor experiences.
The Canal Park located at 23352 Canal Rd has a trail for you if you want a long quiet stroll above the river and a bird’s eye sweeping view of the corn fields take the Richards River Trail. This 2.5 mile unique overlook is worthy of your time. Up among the tree tops you will see and hear birds and experience the wind even on the stillest days. This trail also has the bulky Bald Eagle nest hidden in the trees. Hard to see this time of the year but can be easily seen after the leaves fall.
If you want a short quiet stroll through the woods take the .3 mile Wetland Trail. The river on one side and a full canopy of cool green leaves makes this a wonderful rustic bumpy trail for the adventurers in the family.
For the history buffs take the Towpath Trail 2.7 miles of grass, open and shaded areas. You can imagine the horses and mules that pulled boats along the Ohio-Erie Canal in the 1800’s. You can combine this trail with the Richards River Trail for an outstanding workout of almost 5 miles! (See map or Kiosk)
Be sure to bring your lunch! It is a great destination for picnicking at the shelter house.
Too hot? Aim to get wet? Do some fishing, canoeing or kayaking on the Scioto river! A sandy shore area makes boat access easy and enjoyable.
What more could one need to make an enjoyable day at Canal Park! Maybe a playground? Check out our website to learn more about our upcoming project (Playground coming soon!)
